Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) is a common situation happens to one of the most complex joint system in our body, Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ). Usually, it associates with chronic facial pain.
The TMJs are the joints connecting our jaw and skull. With the harmony of the muscles, ligaments, and bones, it can allow mandible performing many movements, i.e. chewing, talking, yawning, laughing, etc.
TMD happens while the harmony broke. Most common symptoms are muscle pain and muscle stiffness around the jaw area. Moreover, patient might hear the clicking sounds while opening their mouth exceeding certain range. In a more severe situation, patient's jaw could be locked.
